County adopts 2026 holiday schedule, grants Martin Luther King Jr. Day to all employees

FREMONT COUNTY — The Fremont County Board of County Commissioners adopted the county’s 2026 holiday schedules, extending observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day to all county employees.
Under the updated schedule, employees on a four-day, 10-hour work schedule will recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a paid holiday. Employees on a five-day, 8-hour schedule — many of whom follow state office calendars, including certain human-services staff — will receive an additional 10 hours of floating holiday leave so that total paid holiday leave for a full-time employee is 100 hours annually.
County Administrator Tony Carrocci said the change was prompted by operational realities: some county offices and services follow state schedules or have limited functionality on federal/state holidays, so granting the day to all staff improves fairness and reduces the need for employees to report to work when the public cannot access services.
Commissioners moved and seconded the adoption. The motion passed on a roll-call vote.
