Commission discusses adding yield sign at intersection near county facility; action deferred

During the meeting the Clay County Board of Commissioners discussed traffic-safety concerns at the intersection of County Roads 313 and 456, where traffic leaving a new elevator/driveway frequently travels through the intersection without stopping. Commissioners and staff agreed the intersection's current signage did not clearly indicate right-of-way for vehicles exiting the elevator approach.

Participants suggested placing a yield sign for traffic traveling east on County Road 313 so that traffic on the main approach retains right-of-way and drivers exiting the elevator must yield. Staff noted there is currently a stop sign on the north/south approach of County Road 456; the yield sign would clarify movement for the eastbound approach to the elevator exit.

No formal resolution or motion was taken during the meeting. Commissioners directed staff to prepare a formal sign resolution and supporting map for consideration at the next regular meeting. The discussion was recorded as a planning-level action; installation, if approved at a future meeting, will be scheduled and implemented by county roads staff.
