The Aberdeen School District 06-1 board approved several routine governance items Oct. 27, 2025, including the consent agenda, a policy change on weapons definitions and the Title I comparability report.
Early in the meeting the board approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda by voice vote. No members spoke against either action.
During a first reading of policy JICI, the district proposed deleting the "ballistics knife" definition. Staff said they consulted with school resource officers and concluded the item is redundant with the district's existing knife prohibition and that the definition is no longer found in state statute. "We consulted with the SROs and they said that that is already covered under knife and it's no longer in the state statute," the Assistant Superintendent said. The board moved the first reading of policy JICI; the motion carried by voice vote.
The board also received and approved the Title I comparability report, which staff described as verification that Title I schools and the district's non-Title school, C.C. Lee, have comparable staff-to-student ratios. The motion to approve the comparability report was made and approved by voice vote.
