The Town of Selma Planning Board on Oct. 27 recommended that the Town Council amend Unified Development Ordinance section 17-15.04 to change the appeal window for penalties and remedies from 10 days to 30 days.
Planning staff told the board that the existing 10-day appeal period in the town code is shorter than the general statute that governs appeals of administrative decisions and can be difficult for affected parties to meet. “So I’m changing that to 30 days,” the planning staff member said during the presentation.
Board members moved that the proposal be found consistent with the town code and to recommend the amendment to council; the motion carried with affirmative votes.
The board’s action was a recommendation only; final adoption would require Town Council review. The staff presentation noted the amendment is intended to align local appeal procedures with the state’s general timeline for administrative appeals.
