Board appoints two 11th‑grade student representatives

The board introduced and appointed two eleventh‑grade student representatives at the Sept. 18 meeting.
Chairman Graves welcomed Kaylee O’Brien of George Washington High School and Koonj Patel of Galileo High School. Both students described their goals for representing peers and participating in board discussions; board members praised the pair and moved to appoint them for the year.
The motion to appoint the two students was made by Miss Walker and seconded by Miss Cunningham; the roll call recorded affirmative votes and the appointments were approved. The board presented pins and planned a group photo following the vote.
The student representatives will bring school‑level perspectives to future board meetings and were described by trustees as an important connection between students and the board.
