St. Mary's County commissioner says federal shutdown is already harming local families

Commissioner (unnamed), a member of the St. Mary's County Board of Commissioners, warned that a looming federal government shutdown is already having local consequences and urged federal leaders to resolve the impasse.

"This looming federal shutdown is once again, this commissioner will say that, this is this is a terrible situation," the commissioner said, adding that "My wife has been at home since October 1." He said the county is required to pass a balanced budget every year and questioned why Congress and federal leaders could not do the same.
