Romulus student government reports uptick in school spirit, outlines fundraisers and spring plans

Student government leaders from Romulus High School presented the board with a summary of recent spirit and homecoming activities and laid out fundraising plans on Oct. 27.

Jeriel, identified at the meeting as the student government president, and Janae Moore, the class of 2026 publicity manager, described a series of Football Fridays, spirit theme days, a pep rally with contests and performances and a homecoming dance that used a neon theme. The students credited staff members and community donors for support: the presentation cited donations from Bubby’s Pizza and Whisk and Spice and thanked the band for supporting the team.

The student leaders said the senior class is selling two blanket designs for $40 and is hosting a Chipotle fundraiser on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Canton Michigan Avenue location. They asked the board and the district to continue supporting in‑school events, and they proposed holding games in the lunchroom at least twice per month to sustain increased student participation.

Superintendent Dr. Edmondson and board members praised the students’ energy and said the district could help publicize fundraisers. In his remarks, Dr. Edmondson offered to help distribute fundraiser information district‑wide if the students provide the copy for distribution.
