Brock said the district expects a projected shortfall of about $300,000, driven by roughly 30 fewer funded seats at about $10,000 per child. He said staff vacancies were not filled in anticipation of the shortfall and that two employees volunteered for layoff.
Brock said the district is still enrolling and could be about 10 students away from a target that, if reached, would allow the district to restore positions; he said the two employees could be brought back as early as January if enrollment improves.
