Board reviews quadrennial updates to Policy Section C; three policies revised to align with state guidance

They said the policy review produced 15 restatements with no substantive changes and three revisions. The revised policies include CBA (qualifications and duties of the superintendent) and CBG (evaluation of the superintendent), which were updated to align with Virginia code and the Virginia Board of Education's uniform performance standards and evaluation criteria. The CLA policy (reporting acts of violence and child abuse, now expanded to include substance abuse) was rewritten to match the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) model language and state law.
Ms. McCott said the CLA revision is a full rewrite to align with VSBA and the Code of Virginia. Board members had no substantive objections during the discussion and were offered the opportunity to submit questions before the policies are brought forward for formal action in the regular policy process.
