Bandera council asks TxDOT to pause first‑block Main Street changes while parking solutions are explored

Battle said a loss of nearly 30 parking spaces in the first block could have a severe impact on commerce in the central business district and that the city has asked TxDOT to slow that portion of the work while the city develops proposals for replacing parking (stripping, reconfiguring an existing lot with approximately 25 spaces, and other measures). The council discussed maintaining good relations with TxDOT while protecting downtown businesses.
Council asked staff to prepare a proposal for interim striping (estimated under $10,000) and to study the municipal lot across from Al Hokolita for additional parking. No formal vote was taken; councilmembers stressed the need to protect parking for downtown businesses while remaining in contention for sidewalk grant funding covering other sections of the town.
