The Clay County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Resolution 2025‑29 on Oct. 28 urging the repeal of Minnesota—s moratorium on nuclear energy production and asking the legislature to consider nuclear options as part of the state—s strategy to reach 100% carbon‑free energy goals.
A staff item introduced the resolution and noted outreach from Sherburne County and the Minnesota Nuclear Energy Alliance. Commissioner Munger, speaking as a member of the environment and natural resources policy group, said counties are discussing amendments and platform items related to nuclear energy and that additional AMC (Association of Minnesota Counties) platform actions are expected. Commissioner Kravanoff said he strongly supported the resolution.
Commissioner Kravanoff moved to approve Resolution 2025‑29; Commissioner Bair seconded. The motion carried by voice vote with no recorded dissent.
