Dana Degnan, the newly hired cultural arts specialist, introduced herself and reported on recent theatre and public-art activity, and staff provided an update on planned theater renovations.
Degnan said O'Fallon Theatre Works' production of Curious Savage sold 537 total tickets. Auditions and callbacks for the holiday musical (The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, the musical) are complete, and directors reported that roles were largely filled. Degnan also reviewed the Fall Into the Arts event: 21 artists registered for the event but staff noted a higher-than-usual number of late dropouts; staff are considering an application fee or deposit in future years to limit last-minute cancellations.
On facility renovations, staff said they had collected comments from theatre directors and submitted suggested revisions to the architect; the architect is revising schematics and staff expects a bidding process to follow. Staff cautioned that construction timing depends on the final design and procurement; no firm start date was given.
