The Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval of a conditional use permit to the City Council and approved a site plan Oct. 2 for a Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken drive-through at 988 Bridal Road.
BFA engineer John Schabaugh presented the site as the final lot in a recent infill development adjacent to a Dutch Bros Coffee. The proposed building is approximately 2,400 square feet, will use new prototype exterior materials, and will have two drive-through lanes sharing access with the existing driveway. Staff recommended approval with conditions that include one additional parking space, mechanical screening and revised landscaping to meet tree counts (21 trees required).
Public advocate Arnie Dienoff spoke about tax structures, asking whether the project would be included in a community-improvement or transportation-development district (CID/TDD) that could add an extra 1 percent sales tax; he said he could not support or oppose the project until the tax status was clear. The petitioner said construction is planned for 2026 and the group intends to work with staff on materials and screening conditions.
The commission voted to recommend the CUP to council and approved the site plan with staff conditions; the transcript does not record a roll-call tally. Staff will continue coordination on materials, screening and permitting.
