Spalding County outlines fall community events in Griffin, lists mental-health contacts

The county announced these specific events: Downtown Griffin Trick-or-Treat on Oct. 30 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.; a public-safety-sponsored Safety Trick-or-Treat at the cemetery at 310 East Poplar Street on Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; a Trunk-or-Treat at City Park on Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and a 50 Forward Club senior costume party on Oct. 29 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the senior center. Burks encouraged attendees to visit both downtown activities and the cemetery event during the evening overlap.
Recognizing that the holidays can be stressful or isolating for some residents, Burks listed crisis and behavioral-health resources and phone numbers she said are available to the community. The announcements stressed family-oriented, supervised activities, age-appropriate entertainment and participation by local businesses and organizations that will hand out information about community services. Burks closed the message by reiterating her role in community engagement and inviting residents to take part in county activities.
