Multiple residents used the meeting’s public‑comment period to press the village for more information about odor and air‑quality events they associate with Citgo operations. Robert Peterson asked whether the village had filed Freedom of Information Act requests with the IEPA, Romeoville Township or Will County for emissions and monitoring data.
Village Administrator George (name provided in the meeting) and Chief Lococo said they have been in touch with Citgo representatives and are arranging follow‑up meetings. Administrator George said Citgo representatives told staff they are preparing responses and that the village has scheduled Citgo and the IEPA to attend the Environmental Commission meeting on Nov. 20. The administrator and Chief Lococo said they will discuss notification protocols with the IEPA — specifically when and how the village and residents are notified of releases or equipment malfunctions.
George said Environmental Commission Chair Brian Reinke has access to public fence‑line monitoring data and call logs from residents who report odors; he noted some fence‑line data can be several months old. Residents urged the village to press for clear timeliness and interpretation of monitoring data and to continue public outreach. Village staff said those data are public and will be discussed at the Nov. 20 meeting.
