Council approves liquor‑permit changes for Penn Strikes and Meeker Rentals

Penn Strikes (Penn Lanes), located at 451 Pennsylvania Avenue, requested the addition of a D‑2 permit to its existing permits. Assistant Chief Justin Herning reported the business has been a long‑standing partner with the police department and that the department had no objections following a standard investigation. Council moved and approved the permit without objection.
Meeker Rentals (operating as The Pointe) at 385 East Winter Street sought a D‑1 transfer (trexed) and a D‑5 permit for event operations in the former Grace United Methodist Church venue. Herning said police checks and calls for service showed no issues; he confirmed the parcel is outside the 500‑foot school‑proximity restriction and that school officials were contacted previously and had no objections. Council moved, seconded and adopted the permit approvals by roll call.
