The mayor said county auditors contacted the town asking for clear authorization for signature authority so ACH transactions between the town and county could be processed before the upcoming election and year-end. "They really wanted this resolution to show that our current treasurer, Mister Lawrence, can do that," the mayor said. He requested suspension of rules and emergency designation so the county could accept the authorization promptly.
A motion to take Resolution 25-35 to the floor of council with the emergency designation was made and seconded; the committee approved the motion by voice vote, 6-0. Committee members asked one clarifying question about the deadline and the mayor replied that the county needed the authorization between now and the end of the year.
The resolution will go to the full council for final action and, if adopted, will be provided to the county auditor to authorize the treasurer to execute ACH transactions.
