Waukesha committee approves three bartender licenses; one applicant questioned over recent OWI

The Waukesha City Ordinance & Licensing Committee approved three bartender license applications Oct. 27 and will place the approvals on the next City Council agenda for final action.
During the meeting, the committee interviewed Casey James Lewandowski, an applicant represented by Matthew Fitzgerald, director of operations for Chili's. The committee asked about a recent operating-while-intoxicated (OWI) incident. "I pretty much just stopped drinking in general," Lewandowski said. Fitzgerald said, "Yes. We do," when asked whether Chili's was confident the applicant could perform the job and comply with liquor laws.
The committee also considered Grace Marie Davis, represented by Jeff Rockteacher, store manager of Walgreens at 601 Meadowbrook. The chair questioned Davis about a recent OWI and whether she was still drinking. Davis replied, "No, ma'am. I'm not drinking." Rockteacher said Davis had worked at the store for nearly four months and had "demonstrated good decision making" and responsibility.
An uninvited potential applicant, James S. Davis, was also approved by motion.
Each approved license will be placed on the next City Council agenda, where any council member may remove an item for separate consideration. The Clerk's Office will notify successful applicants about next steps and final licensing paperwork.
