Jennifer Bennett, owner of Barks and Recreation, requested a deferment on her second-location loan at the Oct. 24 Loan Administration Board meeting.
Bennett told the board she had a setback when an earlier location encountered an environmental issue; she said the business paid about $9,600 on that location and recovered $4,800 after exiting the lease. Bennett said she has identified a new property where rent will not begin until December but still must obtain permits including a fire alarm permit before occupancy. "Once we have that in place, then we'll be able to get our occupancy and get the doors open," Bennett said.
A board member moved to change the loan start date to Jan. 1, 2026. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote with no opposition recorded in the transcript.
Bennett said business at her other location remains steady while she completes permits and preparations for the second site.
