Dana said dispatchers make life‑or‑death operational decisions, coordinate emergency responses and often are the last voice callers hear. She cautioned against claims that artificial intelligence will replace dispatchers, saying AI is currently an assistive tool (transcription, translation, quality‑assurance) and cannot interpret complex human cues such as silence during domestic‑violence calls or make nuanced operational decisions.
She thanked Representative Meg Weinberger for sponsoring legislative language this session and asked the delegation to carry the issue forward. Dana invited delegation members to tour the 9‑1‑1 emergency communications center to see operations firsthand. No formal vote was taken during the hearing.
