DEIB commission welcomes new members, including educators and a civil engineer

The Hutto DEIB Commission welcomed newly appointed commissioners during introductions and asked each to describe why they joined the commission. New appointees described ties to Hutto and professional backgrounds the commission said would support implementation of its short-term action plan.
Terrence Hollingsworth said he has been a teacher for more than 25 years and that youth-related issues were important to him; Bogut (Bodie) Nnamzoshi said he is a civil engineer who moved to Hutto in 2023 and wanted to serve the community after starting a family in the city. Other commissioners briefly described their own backgrounds in workforce development, chamber work, and nonprofit service and flagged upcoming committee work they will support, including the 150th Founders Day planning.
Christie Barnes, the staff liaison, reviewed her role as community and culture officer and her responsibilities to provide historical information and staff support to the commission. Commissioners discussed short-term assignments and noted that the commission will formally elect a chair and co-chair at a future meeting.
The introductions concluded with staff and commissioners encouraging the new members to review the commission’s packet materials, the short-term action plan, and the community survey results to prepare for taking on liaison and outreach tasks.
