Stilson Transit Center on track for summer 2026; staff report other public‑works milestones

Public Works Director Heather Overholser told the commission on Oct. 27 that construction of the Stilson Transit Center is proceeding on schedule with an anticipated summer 2026 completion. The transit facility and bike shelter are erected, exterior construction is underway, and a portion of the parking lot has been paved to provide roughly 500 parking spaces for the upcoming winter ski season when combined with an existing resort lot.
Overholser said paving of the entire site could not be completed this season because of delays in a DEQ permit and high groundwater that prevented sewer installation; those tasks will resume next season. She also described a unique roundabout pathway feature at the site and said pathway construction across the site is mostly complete.
On other projects, Overholser said Wilson active‑transportation improvements are at 95% design pending YDOT comments and that right‑of‑way acquisition is nearing completion; bidding is planned this winter for a spring 2026 start. Staff also reported survey and environmental assessment work for an 8.5‑acre Stilson conservation easement and an RV dump station design kickoff for BLM Parcel 26, with patents for the parcel currently delayed in Cheyenne because of the federal shutdown.
Commissioners asked clarifying questions about timing and permits; staff said they will return with easement documents and further project updates as milestones are achieved.
