Leadership Douglas County presented an $11,356.18 donation to the district's angel accounts after hosting a Smash Hunger pickleball fundraiser.
Kayla Ratliff and colleagues from Leadership Douglas County described the event as a community effort that highlighted local partners including Carson Valley Health, the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce and local service organizations. "It was just really cool to see how the community came together," Ratliff said when presenting the check.
Trustees and attendees thanked the organizers and noted that funds will support families and students through the district's angel account program.
Ending note: district staff said they would provide accounting on how the funds are allocated to the angel accounts in routine financial reporting.
