Street and sidewalk committee to draft ordinance on e-bikes, e-scooters and golf-cart seat belts

The St. Marys City Council's street and sidewalk committee reported work on rules for electric bicycles, e-scooters and seat-belt requirements for golf carts. Committee chair Mister Lund said the committee will bring an ordinance prepared by Mister Farrell to council for consideration once legal questions are resolved.
Lund told council a follow-up committee meeting will be scheduled when Mister Farrell completes the legal review and provides supplemental information. The committee plans to address related enforcement and safety questions at that meeting; no ordinance text was adopted during the council session.
Council members did not take further action on the topic at the full-council meeting other than to acknowledge the committee report and to anticipate a future meeting.
