Kenmore staff outline active short plats, multifamily projects and major high-school construction

Lyuk said the city currently has roughly a dozen active short plats (subdivisions of up to nine lots) in various stages; she showed a photo of a five-lot short plat on 70 Sixth Avenue NE in active site-development. Multifamily activity clustered near 80th Avenue includes the first phase of a project called 205 Degrees and Beachwood 2 (about 53 units). She also noted several townhome projects under construction and smaller institutional projects such as a Montessori school and Kenmore Elementary upgrades.
Lyuk highlighted the North Shore School District high school project, reporting that phase one is valued at $100,000,000 and that the district has received occupancy for the first building; construction continues on the commons building.
On a question about preservation and tree protection for a long plat (12-lot short plat on 80th), Lyuk said critical areas near Swamp Creek are being set aside for preservation and that tree management plans were addressed during land-use review and will be verified during construction permitting.
