Longleaf Engineering presented a rezoning petition (Z2425) to rezone approximately 0.18 acres at 1125 Nineteenth Street from MR1 to MR2 so the owner could construct a duplex addition behind an existing house.
Tom Sims of Longleaf Engineering said the proposal uses the existing house and adds a second dwelling at the rear of the lot with parking proposed at the rear and upgraded drive access. The commission asked for clearer conceptual drawings showing parking layout and how vehicles would access the alley; commissioners discussed reestablishing front yards and placing parking to the rear to protect streetscape character.
Commissioners and staff agreed to continue the item so the petitioner can provide a site layout that meets parking and alley-access concerns and demonstrates how reestablishing the front yard will be preserved. The motion to continue was approved at the hearing.
