At the meeting’s end Legislative Service Office staff summarized committee actions and next steps.
LSO attorney Brian Fuller told the panel the committee voted to sponsor these drafts from the meeting: 26LSO80 (explicit materials and library requirements), 26LSO82 (absconding for criminal purposes), 26LSO172 (contracts for holding and treating mentally ill detainees), 26LSO79 (grooming of children), and 26LSO171 (enhanced penalty for fentanyl distributed to minors). The committee also tabled 26LSO76 (mineral interest reversion for nonuse) and did not sponsor 26LSO75 (Department of Family Services review and confidentiality).
Fuller reiterated that some bills will need additional technical edits, appropriation work, or coordination with the governor’s budget office before formal introduction. Committee chairs said they would divide sponsorship responsibilities and that staff would circulate amended drafts for legal checks and follow‑up.
