The Parma City School District Board of Education conducted the first reading of a series of revised policies on Oct. 23 and discussed public access to marked-up drafts showing edits.
The policies presented for first reading included: non-discrimination in education programs or activities (Policy 2266), assignment and transfer (Policy 3130), withdrawal from school (Policy 5130), personal communication devices (Policy 5136), attendance (Policy 5200), promotion/academic acceleration/placement/retention (Policy 5410), audit (Policy 6830), and web accessibility/content/apps and services (Policy 7540.02).
A board member asked whether the revised policies included the old policy text with highlighted changes. Staff said the marked-up versions (crossed-out and inserted text) are in the executive content for the board's review and confirmed they can make the highlighted redline versions available to the public agenda. One board member noted the public could also compare the revised draft to the policy handbook on the district website.
Staff said they could make the redlined/highlighted content available and would follow up to place those materials with the agenda for community access.
