Wayne select board advances committee charges and okays boundary verification outreach to neighboring towns
Summary
The select board revised and advanced draft charges for building, infrastructure and comprehensive-plan committees, deferred some building-committee appointments pending outreach to the fire department and Lab Rec Center, and voted to notify six adjacent towns and pursue verification (perambulation) of town boundary markers.

The select board discussed a set of committee charges and membership criteria for a building committee, an infrastructure committee and a comprehensive-plan committee.
On the building committee, the board debated whether to include the fire department and Lab Rec Center as voting members. The board agreed to invite both entities to appoint representatives; if either declines, the board will appoint an additional at-large member so the committee will operate with five or seven members depending on appointments.
On infrastructure, members amended the charge to make explicit that the committee's recommended annual budgets for infrastructure projects should be provided to both the select board and the budget committee during the town's budgeting cycle. The committee's duties were broadened to include consultation with appropriate technical specialists (for example, dam keepers when dams are in scope).
For the comprehensive-plan committee, the board adjusted membership to include the planning board, select board, conservation commission and four at-large members and clarified that the committee should consult other boards and the budget committee as required rather than enumerating every advisory contact.
Separately, the board approved a motion directing the town manager to send mapped boundary-marker information to six adjacent municipalities and to proceed with verification/perambulation work next spring. The motion carried 5-0.
Ending: Staff will confirm whether the fire department and Lab Rec Center will appoint members to the building committee, finalize membership language for the charges, and proceed with boundary notification and verification work.
