Board concurs with Plan Commission to vacate portion of Foster Street to resolve driveway use

The Skokie Village Board on Oct. 21 voted to concur with the Planning Commission’s recommendation to vacate parts of Foster Street adjacent to 9456 and 9500 Crawford Avenue.
Plan Commission Chair Paul Luke summarized the request at the Oct. 21 meeting: the south 12.5-foot strip of the subject area would be conveyed to the owner of 9456 Crawford to be incorporated into that undeveloped parcel, and the north 20.5-foot portion would be conveyed to the owners of 9500 Crawford to formalize an existing driveway and parking area. The recommendation includes a public-utility and drainage easement within the remaining portion of the right-of-way.
After a motion to concur by trustees and no substantive public objections that evening, the board took a roll-call vote that resulted in unanimous approval. Staff moved the matter forward consistent with the Planning Commission’s record — the commission voted 8–0 with one absence.
The action clears a routine procedural step toward conveying the right-of-way; staff will prepare the necessary legal descriptions and closing actions required to complete the conveyances and to record the easement for utilities and drainage.
