Parents raise concerns about long student bus rides; district cites routing and driver shortages

Staffing shortages were discussed: at the time of the meeting two driver positions were open, the district was attempting to hire an assistant transportation supervisor (who previously routed for Post Falls School District) and planned a float driver position to reduce missed trips and assist with athletics. Staff said recruitment remains challenging and that targeted outreach (social media, workforce offices) and incentives are in use.
Board members requested a more detailed route-time report (start and end times, number of stops and route miles) and noted that the new assistant supervisor will be asked to review routes to reduce student ride times where possible.
