Monroe Crossing safety: Superintendent described immediate, temporary safety measures the district is putting in place for upcoming night events following a recent serious crash near the crosswalk by the high school: event crossing guards, LED “events in progress” signs, deployment of the 20‑mph flashing school signs during events, cones in crosswalks, and encouraging visiting teams and spectators to use the Lincoln parking lot and avoid crossing the busy roadway. District staff said they are also pursuing longer‑term infrastructure and grant funding options to improve the crosswalk (possible signalized crossings or rapid‑flash beacons) for future construction seasons.
Enrollment and budget: The superintendent reported a current decline of about 73 students relative to last year, with preliminary budget implications on the order of roughly $1.2 million. Staff said some offsetting factors—average daily membership smoothing and the end of specific program funding—will influence final revenue estimates; the district will consider attrition, position reviews, and other cost‑management options for next year’s budget.
CTE facility planning: QC10 architects are preparing conceptual designs and three preliminary options for the district’s career‑and‑technical education (CTE) program: (1) a separate new building, (2) an addition/extension of the existing CTE footprint, or (3) an interior remodel and upgrade within present square footage. Architects will present conceptual drawings and cost ranges at the November 11 board meeting, and staff will use that information to scope a formal design and bidding process if the board chooses to proceed.
Other items: Superintendent summarized a district residency/recruitment fair at the University of Wyoming and highlighted ongoing staff efforts to support student safety and operations. Board members thanked staff for the quick response to Monroe Crossing and for communicating accreditation progress.
