Parks operations manager Sam Harb presented the Open Space Conservancy Trust's draft work plan for 2026 and noted that trustees will finalize the work plan and the annual report to council at the January meeting.
"This is our first look at the work plan for next year," Harb said, adding that the annual report to council is "required in our bylaws each year." Trustees reviewed scheduled items including the story (QR-code) project update, ongoing quadrant reports, trails and restoration work plans and a forest health survey.
Trustees raised the letterboxing program for closer review. Chair Hillary Ate and several trustees said interest in the program appears to be waning and asked staff to provide participation numbers before any decision on the program's future. In the department report later in the meeting, Harb said, "The program ran from June to September this year, and we did have 31 completed booklets that were turned in back here at the community center."
Trustees also flagged scheduling conflicts for the April meeting (the week of school spring break) and asked staff to poll members; the April meeting was left as TBD so staff can confirm availability.
No formal action was taken at the Oct. 16 meeting to change the work plan; trustees requested follow-up information and scheduled items for future agendas.
