Board approves several event permits and moves forward on downtown parklet grant

The board approved an event permit for Washington Street Church of Christ’s Fall Fun Fest (Oct. 26), authorization for Fear Not Fest hosted by First Baptist Church (Oct. 31) and the annual Chase the Cheetah 5K/Reindeer Run (Nov. 15 at Stonebridge Park). Each permit was approved by motion and voice vote.
Separately, the board moved forward with the downtown improvement grant parklet element — part of a larger facade and downtown improvement program approved in December 2024 — and approved the submitted parklet plans and funding continuation. The motion carried with one member recorded as voting "No."
