Council declares city utility and personal property surplus (Resolution 2025-30)

The City Council adopted Resolution 2025-30 on Oct. 4 declaring certain utility and non-utility equipment and materials surplus to the city’s needs and authorizing disposal.
Hunter Schleyfield, facilities and fleet manager in Public Works, explained the resolution and said disposals would follow Ellensburg City Code chapter 2.07 and an RCW cited in the staff report. "Property declared as surplus to the city's needs will be disposed of within a timely manner by means of junking, auctions, sealed bids, or sale to qualified nonprofit corporations at fair market value," Schleyfield said. The staff report named GovDeals as the primary auction service.
No members of the public testified at the surplus public hearing; council adopted the resolution after brief discussion. Revenues from any sales will be applied to the funds from which the materials and equipment were originally funded.
