Highways staff updated the commission on multiple transportation items. Staff said the Community Crossing grant application for chip-seal work requires a county financial commitment letter and urged commissioners to sign it before submission; commissioners moved and approved the signature and commitment (vote 3-0).
Staff also described two consultant task orders from SJCA to prepare estimates for two bridge projects. The first (Bridge 115, located on County Road 400 South east of State Road 103, described as a total replacement) requires a $1,500 expenditure to allow a consultant to prepare an estimate; commissioners approved the $1,500 expenditure (3-0). Staff said a second estimate (Bridge 143, described as a superstructure/deck replacement on 200 South over Flat Rock River at 375 East) will be prioritized after Bridge 115 and will require a separate estimate (amount stated as $11,500 in discussion).
On fleet procurement, staff presented two bids for truck chassis (identified in the record as Selking/Selkin International and Rush Truck Center) and recommended purchasing two chassis from the International dealer. Commissioners moved and approved accepting the bid and authorized ordering two chassis (3-0). Staff noted the current action approves chassis purchases only and that upfitting (beds/equipment) will be quoted and procured separately, potentially using Sourcewell or similar cooperative purchasing.
