The board approved a contract with SVA Architects for $419,500 to produce construction documents for Mary Farmer Elementary School modernization.
Roxanne Egan explained the scope: six new modular classroom buildings, an additional support structure with restrooms and storage, and infrastructure to accommodate two relocated portables if needed. The modular work is intended to allow construction during the school year and to limit Title IX conflicts with high-school use of adjacent fields.
A trustee made a motion to award the contract and another trustee seconded; the motion passed by voice vote.
Egan said the approach was designed to reduce cost by advancing schematic designs and master planning work in advance of construction documents. Trustees asked about sequencing and clarified that if additional portables are not required the infrastructure would remain unused rather than be deployed.
