Planning Commission approves Taco Bros at 22180 Green for restaurant use

The Oak Park Planning Commission approved an administrative permit allowing Taco Bros to open a Mexican restaurant at 22180 Green.

Planning Department staff told commissioners the property has been vacant since 2010 and previously housed a bank and a law office; restaurant use is permitted by right in the B1 Neighborhood business district. Staff said the applicant proposed planting five plants in the front greenbelt and that the project owner reported an investment of $500,005.05.

Commissioners asked whether more landscaping could be provided and whether the submitted elevations differed; staff said the applicant proposed two western elevation options tied to how the building work proceeds and that staff would contact the applicant about adding plants. No roll-call vote was recorded in the public transcript; the chair called for the motion, commissioners moved and seconded, and the item was approved by voice vote.

The approval is administrative, and staff will follow up with the applicant regarding final landscaping details and any clarifications about the west elevation changes.
