Gahanna council proclaims October Arts and Humanities Month; band boosters recognized

The Gahanna City Council on Oct. 20 adopted a resolution recognizing October as Arts and Humanities Month and invited representatives of the Gahanna Lincoln Instrumental Music Boosters to the podium.
Vice President Trenton Weaver introduced the resolution and said the national theme this year is "Stories Unite Us." Emily Kearns, president-elect of the boosters, described the group's work supporting band and orchestra programs across grades 6'12 and noted the boosters recently set a new tag-day donation record. "We see firsthand how music education positively impacts kids," Kearns said. Secretary Heather Crites described specific uses for booster funds, including purchasing and maintaining instruments, funding guest clinicians and master classes, covering contest fees so students can participate at no cost, and providing scholarships for camps and private instruction.
Weaver invited council members and the mayor to join the boosters for a photo following the recognition. Council thanked the organization and noted continued community support for arts education.
