The Stephens County Board of Commissioners appointed Commissioner Debbie Whitlock to the Aveda board to complete a term ending Dec. 31, 2026.
Staff explained that Aveda reviews contributing communities annually and that Stephens County's recent provision of space (the old hospital adjacent to the health department) makes the county the No. 2 in-kind contributor in the region, qualifying it for an additional board seat. County staff noted Samantha Turner, the county clerk, serves as Aveda's board chair. Commissioner Whitlock agreed to serve; the board moved and approved the appointment.
The appointment is a continuation of an existing term that would end Dec. 31, 2026; staff said it would renew for a three-year term after the current term expiration.
