Chris Veil (name per transcript) told the commission he left a job-site assignment briefly to respond to a worker's report that a new laborer had injured his ankle, explained his actions and said the crew member declined transport to the emergency room. Veil said he documented his time and mileage, that he keeps mileage logs for personal reimbursements and that he had email statements from multiple customers showing he drove his personal vehicle to work sites throughout the year. He offered to provide hard copies of the documentation to county staff.
Commissioners and other meeting attendees referenced prior social-media posts and urged Veil to provide hard copies. Chair and other commissioners thanked him for his candor. No formal action was taken; commissioners asked staff to collect any documentation needed for staff review.
