Granite County to file response with FERC after homeowners’ complaint about Georgetown Lake temporary modification

Granite County staff will file a formal response with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission after a homeowners association submitted a complaint over a temporary modification to Georgetown Lake releases.
County staff and the county attorney told commissioners the temporary reduction in outflow was coordinated with the three partner agencies that approve such modifications and was publicly noticed. Staff said the county had agreed to reduced releases at the end of irrigation season and planned to return additional water beginning the next day; commissioners discussed moving releases from 10 cubic feet per second (CFS) toward a temporary 6 CFS target if inflows permit.
Commissioners asked staff to assemble inflow data and to continue coordinating with state agencies. County counsel will e-file the response to FERC and share copies with commissioners.
The commission also set a follow-up discussion for next week to review updated inflow data and to consider any additional temporary adjustments.
