Committee begins review of boards and commissions; Shade Tree and events processes prioritized

Committee members reviewed a working checklist of 12 borough boards and commissions plus the library board and discussed which bodies need active ordinance review or updates. Jim Spear said he prepared the chart to track status, and members agreed the document should indicate which commissions report to a borough committee and whether vacancies exist.
Staff said letters will go out next week to members with terminating or expiring terms asking whether they wish to seek reappointment. The committee discussed linking the appointments tracking document (maintained by administration) into the working checklist so members can view current vacancies.
Members identified the Shade Tree Commission as a near-term priority because it ties into proposed clarifications to the SOWDOT (special-works in the right-of-way) application process and plans for special-events permits; staff indicated those policy items and a traffic-calming policy are targeted for work after the borough finishes budget season. The committee also noted vacancy and quorum issues for certain advisory groups and agreed to prioritize follow-up and appointment-season communications.
