Orange City extends Saturday farmers market permit through Aug. 22, 2026; grants manager discretion on schedule changes

The City of Orange City on Oct. 14 approved a one-year extension of the special-event permit (SPEC06254182) for the Saturday farmers market at 300 South Volusia Avenue, extending operations through Aug. 22, 2026. Council also granted the interim city manager authority to administratively approve reasonable schedule adjustments requested by the market operator during the permit term.
Christine Davis, interim city manager, summarized a trial period and staff review of the market and said: "During the time that the market was operational, we did not receive any police or fire concerns, no known neighboring concerns, and therefore, we are able as a staff to recommend that council approve the extension." She outlined two separate motions: one to approve the permit extension with eight existing conditions, and a second motion to authorize the city manager to approve reasonable written schedule adjustments without returning each request to council.
Council voted to approve both motions by unanimous voice vote. Staff said if any condition were not met the city would return the issue to council for review.
