Pulaski County held a public hearing on a proposed application to the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs for a $750,000 public facilities grant to support work on the Derryville (Madariville) fire station.
Edwin, representing Kerpesi (the project consultant), explained the application timeline and estimated costs. “Yes. This is a public hearing to receive any comments or questions from the public about the county's proposed application to the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs for a 750,000 public facilities grant. The local match is currently at $950,750,” Edwin said. He added engineers are working to lower the local-match estimate and that the full application is due Dec. 19; a second public hearing and a county resolution authorizing the application will be required before submission.
The hearing was opened for public comment; no members of the public spoke and the commission closed the hearing. Commissioners and staff noted townships are not eligible to apply directly to the state program and that the application must be processed through the county.
Staff asked the public to raise questions now or during the next hearing; the commission will return in December to consider a resolution to authorize the full application if costs and match obligations are finalized.
