"It's paid out in 2 lump sums when they get hired and 1 after they've cleared their probation," Sean told the council.
Officials told the council the program is limited in time: it will begin Oct. 20, 2025 and sunset Dec. 31, 2026 "unless revoked, modified, or canceled prior," language the council included in the motion. The staff presentation said the department previously ran a similar incentive and had received applicants but not qualified lateral hires, and the program is intended to increase the pool of experienced candidates.
Council members asked no substantive questions during the presentation, and the motion to approve the program passed with no recorded opposition.
