Bel Air to install Broadway speed hump next week; Howard Park traffic study set to begin Oct. 20

Town Administrator Eddie Klein told the board the contractor for the Broadway speed hump is prepared to install the device next week, weather permitting, and asked whether the board wished to revisit the approved location. Commissioner Chismar urged moving forward and not relitigating the location; commissioners agreed to proceed with the original design location and Klein said staff would inform residents via email.
Klein also told the board a traffic-safety study at Howard Park had been delayed while the town awaited completion of nearby construction and to avoid data skew from a federal shutdown that could alter traffic patterns. Klein said the study will commence Oct. 20 to ensure counts reflect typical conditions. The town will use traffic consultants to collect the data, Klein said.
