Town staff told the board Oct. 14 they plan to procure accessory packages to upfit four marked 2025 Ford Explorer patrol vehicles. The packages, to be installed by Global Public Safety under a piggyback of a Prince George's County contract, were quoted at $93,931. Staff noted the PG County contract expires Nov. 12, 2025, making the purchase time-sensitive.
The packages will include radio consoles, interior and exterior light-bar packages, sirens, prisoner cages and weapon vaults. The board was told the upfits will be installed by the vendor and that the town had budgeted $104,000 for the purchase; staff said earlier estimates had been as high as $97,000and had been refined downward.
Staff also said procurement compared the piggyback pricing with another vendor and the piggyback option remained the most economical. Commissioners thanked staff for checking multiple pricing options. Final purchase authorization is expected on a future agenda.
