Village to issue waste‑hauling RFP; alternate single‑day pickup and composting options requested

Village Administrator Andres told trustees Oct. 9 that the village plans to publish a request for proposals (RFP) for waste hauling and collection services on or about Oct. 10, with proposals due Nov. 7. The administration expects to review proposals in November and December and bring a recommendation to the board at the Dec. 11 meeting so a new vendor could be in place before the current contract expires in April 2026.
Andres said the RFP is modeled on the current contract but with clarifications and a cleaned‑up draft prepared with a consultant from the Solid Waste Agency. The RFP asks bidders to provide: a base price for the existing multi‑day program; an alternate price for a single‑day pickup across the whole village; separate pricing for leaf‑vacuuming services; an option for resident‑paid curbside composting; and an approach for HOA dumpster locations.
Andres said including the regional disposal program (to strengthen buying power) is part of the RFP and should not change curbside service visibility for residents; the regional program changes where material is taken and may yield price benefits. The RFP timeline published to trustees is intended to allow time for interviews if needed and for a vendor transition if the board approves a new award in December.
