Hardy County sheriff reports budget underspend, annual call totals and commends deputy for crash rescue

Reading from a prepared citation, the sheriff described Deputy Vance’s actions at a June 20 crash in which an SUV caught fire and the driver remained inside. “Deputy Vance was able to drag the victim out through the window of the vehicle and pulled him to safety,” the citation said. The sheriff requested recognition, and commissioners agreed to acknowledge the deputy’s “bravery and professional manner.”
